Using Spreadsheet and Telecommunications Programs

What Students Learn: You will use computer-based tutorials to acquire skill with spreadsheet and telecommunication programs used in modern businesses. Includes spreadsheet commands and formulas; creating a bar graph; and merging files. Advanced Spreadsheet, Database, Graphing, and Word Processing Applications

Systems Analysis

Duration: 30 hours
What Students Learn: The objective is to provide skills in information management and analysis. Emphasis is placed on information gathering and reporting activities, on the analysis phase, and the interaction of the key participants in the systems process. Covers documentation; evaluation and scheduling of systems requests; using data flow diagrams, the data dictionary, and process descriptions; evaluation of alternative solutions; and the management presentation.

Systems Design

Course #: 1C7
Duration: 30 hours
What Students Learn: A continuation of Systems Analysis (Code 1C6) with an emphasis on planning and development of information systems for business applications. Covers the major activities in the design phase, the role of the project manager and systems analyst in producing an effective information system within a specified time and budget, and the strategies of software testing and systems implementation. The course includes many examples and cases drawn from actual systems projects to allow students to do systems analysis and design right from the start.

Special Notes: Systems Analysis, 1C6, must be taken before taking 1C7.
