Plastics Process Technician

With the Plastics Process Technician training program, students get a firm grounding in the pre-technical skills of basic math, measurements, safety, and drawing, plus specific training in chemistry, plastic concepts, and principles of electricity.

Maintenance, safety, and testing courses are also included. Make sure you also provide on-the-job training. Your employees will have the skills and hands-on experience they need to become a professional technician.

Apprentices who successfully complete the program, which meets the standards established by the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training (BAT), will know how to:
  • Discuss and explain the processes in making plastic parts.
  • Be able to use applied mathematics.
  • Be familiar with basic electrical concepts, especially as applied to the industrial environment.
  • Understand the concepts and principles of hydraulic and pneumatic components and circuits.
  • Understand the concepts and principles of hydraulic and pneumatic components and circuits.
  • Explain the principles of Statistical Process Control.
  • Explain the concepts of industrial robotics theory and operation.
  • Explain and understand the principles of injection mold construction and operation.
  • Understand the testing procedures used in determining the physical properties of materials.
  • Understand common safety practices.
  • Understand the concepts of heat and heat transfer.
  • Explain and understand the use of common instrumentation to measure temperature and pressure.
